MINDHUNTER

Mindhunter is a 2,5D Hack 'n' Slash game, set in the mind of our main character Aren. While fighting the seven deadly sins in his own head, he tries to protect his brain and not to lose his sanity. Can you help him?

My task: UI-Design

 

Since our task was to create a monochromic game, all of the UI elements are in the same blue colors as the main character, Aren. I thought it would be a good idea, because you get a lot of the information about him through the UI ingame.​

Also I decided to create the UI-Design in Pixel Art. We first wanted to make a beat 'em up game, therefore I thought Pixel Art would be pretty fitting. When our genre changed to Hack 'n' Slash I still thought it would be fitting enough. Although the game is kind of gory, we wanted to make it look cute. Thats why I decided to keep the chosen UI art style. It makes the game feel kinda nostalgic as well :)

This was my first time working with Pixelart,so I had some struggles about finding the right canvas size, the right amount of pixels and details. That's part of the reason why in the end some UI elements aren't as finished as I wanted them to (for example the design of the quests).

I used Aseprite for the first time due this project and really enjoyed it.

Looking forward to increase my pixel art skills!
